Ethiopian Air Force Celebrates 90th Anniversary with Aerial Exhibition in Bishoftu
The Ethiopian Air Force launched an aerial exhibition titled 'The Lions of the Ethiopian Sky' on January 23, 2026, to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The event, held in Bishoftu, featured participation from air force commanders and delegations from 35 African countries, emphasizing continental defense leadership and technological advancement.
The celebrations coincide with the third African Air Force Forum aimed at strengthening joint operations for regional stability. Minister of Defense Ayisha Mohammed highlighted the Air Force's significant role in Ethiopia's development and urged for enhanced cooperation among African air forces. The festivities will culminate on January 19, 2026, with a major aviation expo and aerial show, showcasing over 50 jet fighters and various aircraft, reflecting Ethiopia's commitment to sovereignty and advanced defense capabilities.
