EU Agrees on €90 Billion Aid for Ukraine and 20th Sanctions Package Against Russia
The European Union has reached an agreement to provide €90 billion in credit to Ukraine for 2026-2027 and approved its 20th sanctions package against Russia. This decision follows the removal of Hungary's veto and aims to enhance Ukraine's support while increasing pressure on Russia amid ongoing military aggression.

The EU's recent agreement facilitates a €90 billion credit package for Ukraine covering 2026-2027 and enacts a comprehensive 20th sanctions package targeting Russia's energy, finance, and defense sectors. The sanctions include 120 new listings and aim to restrict key sectors financing the war.
Notably, the package introduces a maritime services ban on Russian oil and a prohibition on LNG terminal services for Russian entities by January 2027. The total number of sanctioned vessels has increased to 632. The lifting of Hungary's veto expedited these measures, reflecting the EU's commitment to supporting Ukraine and constraining Russia's military capabilities.
