EU Defense Fund Projects Involve Advanced AI and 3D Printing Technologies
The European Defense Fund has allocated significant resources to three innovative defense projects: MIDAS, SWORD, and R3DSurfin. These initiatives focus on integrating AI for decision-making, enhancing anti-submarine warfare capabilities, and utilizing 3D printing for military applications.

The European Defense Fund is financing three key military projects with significant budgets: MIDAS (5 million euros), SWORD (20 million euros), and R3DSurfin (3.7 million euros). MIDAS will integrate large language models into defense operations, while SWORD aims to develop an advanced anti-submarine warfare system operational in all weather conditions.
R3DSurfin will focus on 3D printing technologies for military component production. The European Commission's recent approval will enable the signing of agreements with 57 consortia by the end of 2026. Polish entities are involved in 27 projects, totaling approximately 571 million euros, indicating strong regional engagement in defense innovation.
