EU Launches €115 Million Defense Innovation Program AGILE
The European Parliament has approved the AGILE program, allocating €115 million for 2027 to enhance defense technology innovation. This initiative aims to expedite the development and application of defense solutions, benefiting SMEs and startups across the EU.

The AGILE program, approved by the European Parliament, will provide €115 million for 2027 to accelerate defense technology development and testing. It emphasizes faster innovation conversion into defense capabilities, responding to operational needs highlighted by the Ukraine conflict.
Key amendments also stress the importance of defense testing environments, or sandbox models, allowing quicker technology validation while simplifying administrative processes. The program aims to protect European critical infrastructure, particularly for nations like Croatia, with significant roles in maritime and energy security. Additionally, AGILE encourages participation from innovators across all EU member states, promoting inclusivity for countries with less developed defense innovation ecosystems.
