Europe Achieves Record LNG Imports in February 2026
In February 2026, Europe recorded a historic high in liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, reaching approximately 11.9 billion cubic meters (m3), a 10% increase from February 2025. For the first two months of 2026, total LNG supplies exceeded 24.5 billion m3, marking a 16% rise compared to the same period in 2025. LNG accounted for about 30% of Europe's gas supply, making it the second-largest source, following underground gas storage at 35.6%. Supplies from the North Sea and North Africa contributed 22.9% and 5.4%, respectively.

Europe's LNG imports reached a record of approximately 11.9 billion cubic meters (m3) in February 2026, a 10% increase compared to February 2025, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe. Total LNG deliveries for January and February 2026 surpassed 24.5 billion m3, up 16% from the same period in 2025.
LNG has become the second-largest gas source in Europe, holding a 30% share, while underground gas storage accounted for 35.6%. Supplies from the North Sea and North Africa represented 22.9% and 5.4%, respectively. Supplies from Eastern sources, including Russian gas, were 4%, and Azerbaijani gas made up 1.9%.
