European Defense Ministers Agree on $38 Billion Support Package for Ukraine's Military

European defense ministers reached an agreement on a nearly $38 billion defense aid package for Ukraine, mainly focused on strengthening air defense capabilities. The Ukraine Defense Contract Group met at NATO's Brussels headquarters to finalize this support.

The package will fund air defense systems, drones, and missiles, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The UK has additionally offered £500 million for urgent air defense support. Germany will send 30 PAC-3 air defense missiles, with an extra five units to follow, and anticipates that shipments will arrive in Ukraine within days. Germany's defense minister Boris Pistorius stated that €11.5 billion is earmarked from the German budget for Ukraine, highlighting an estimated need of $60 billion over the next year for Ukraine to maintain its defense.
