European Orbital Rocket Crashes Seconds After Launch
Isar Aerospace's Spectrum rocket failed just after launch from Norway, marking a significant moment in Europe's space economy efforts. The incident highlights the challenges faced by the European space industry amid geopolitical tensions and competition with private U.S. companies.

The Spectrum rocket, developed by Isar Aerospace, crashed shortly after liftoff from Andoya Spaceport in Norway. Although the rocket did not achieve its goal of reaching orbit, the company reported a successful test flight lasting 30 seconds and validated its Flight Termination System.
This launch was significant as it was the first orbital rocket launch from continental Europe, apart from Russia, and primarily funded by the private sector. The European space industry is currently facing production delays with the Ariane 6 and Vega-C rockets, exacerbated by the loss of access to Russian launch capabilities post-Ukraine invasion. The incident underscores ongoing challenges in establishing a robust European space launch capacity.
