Evergreen Marine Orders 23 New Container Ships from Chinese Shipyards
Evergreen Marine Corp's Singapore subsidiary has placed orders for 23 new container ships, including 16 3,100-TEU vessels from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and seven 5,900-TEU ships from Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding, with total values ranging from approximately $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion. This follows previous contracts for LNG dual-fuel ships and methanol feeder ships, marking a significant expansion in Evergreen's fleet capabilities. Deliveries for the new ships are expected to begin around 2028.

Evergreen Marine Corp's Singapore subsidiary has ordered 16 3,100-TEU container ships from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, valued between US$736M and US$896M. Additionally, Evergreen has contracted seven 5,900-TEU container ships from Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding, with a total transaction value of approximately US$469M to US$574M.
This follows last year's orders for LNG dual-fuel ships, including 11 24,000-TEU vessels from Guangzhou Shipyard International and Hanwha Ocean, valued between US$1.3Bn to US$1.5Bn and US$1.6Bn to US$1.8Bn, respectively, with deliveries starting around 2028. In 2024, Evergreen ordered 18 dual-fuel methanol feeder ships, with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries supplying the engines.
