Eversheds Sutherland Advises SWPC on Financial Close of Ras Mohaisen Desalination Project in Saudi Arabia
Eversheds Sutherland advised Saudi Water Partnership Company on the financial close of the Ras Mohaisen IWP project in Al-Qunfudhah, Saudi Arabia. The project, with a total cost of SAR 2.57 billion (USD 685 million), aims to enhance water security for the Makkah and Al-Bahah regions, with initial production expected in 2028 and full capacity by 2030. The project mandates local content participation of 40% during construction, 50% in the first five years, and 70% thereafter.

Eversheds Sutherland has successfully advised Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) on the financial close of the Ras Mohaisen Independent Water Plant (IWP) project in Al-Qunfudhah, Saudi Arabia. The desalination facility, costing SAR 2.57 billion (USD 685 million), is set to bolster potable water security for Makkah and Al-Bahah.
Initial production is scheduled for 2028, with full operational capacity targeted for 2030. The project includes local content participation goals of 40% during construction, 50% in the first five years, and 70% thereafter, along with 17 kilometers of overhead transmission lines and a 30 MW solar power plant.
