Federal Funding Secured for Presque Isle Sand Replenishment Project
Federal funding has been secured for sand replenishment at Presque Isle State Park, essential for coastal protection. The project, previously at risk due to funding denials, is set to begin after the July Fourth holiday.

Presque Isle State Park will receive federal funding for sand replenishment in 2026, with confirmation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on June 15. The park typically relies on $3 million annually, split between state and federal sources, but only state funds were allocated for 2025.
The federal funding announcement came from Senator John Fetterman's office on June 12, enabling a full nourishment project. Matt Greene, the park's operations manager, noted that without federal support, erosion could threaten the park's infrastructure and natural features. The sand replenishment work is anticipated to commence post-July Fourth holiday, pending finalization of a new construction contract.
