Austrian startup Fibionic has raised €3 million in a seed financing round led by Redstone, Euregio+, Caesar, and Leap435. Founded in 2021, Fibionic specializes in 'fibionic fiber placement' (FFP), a patented technology that aligns fibers along load paths, inspired by natural designs like dragonfly wings.

This process aims to reduce material usage by up to 60% and product weight by up to 50%, achieving production cycle times of approximately one minute per component. The company has partnered with Selle Italia to produce bicycle saddles using FFP. The funding will facilitate technology platform development, team expansion, and the transition of pilot projects to scalable production, targeting industries such as automotive, aviation, and robotics.
