Filtronic has expanded to a 44,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Sedgefield to enhance its capacity for defense orders, particularly in relation to the AUKUS security pact. The company aims to deliver electronic warfare and other defense capabilities to Australia, as highlighted in the Australian Government's Defence Strategic Review.

Filtronic already supplies radio frequency components to BAE Systems Maritime Services, integral to AUKUS. As a tier two supplier, Filtronic is positioned to support both UK and allied defense needs, despite challenges posed by global protectionism and tariffs affecting the defense industry.
