A World Bank project aimed at rehabilitating Syria's water infrastructure has entered its final evaluation phase. This five-year initiative, set to run from 2026 to 2031, focuses on restoring drinking water and sanitation services in regions significantly affected by conflict.
Major components include emergency repairs of supply networks, rehabilitation of the Ain Zarqa water system in Idlib, upgrades to the Upper Orontes project in Homs and Hama, and expansion of the Adra wastewater treatment facility in rural Damascus. The project will also implement modern monitoring systems and enhance operational efficiency to meet reconstruction needs.
