Final US Navy Expeditionary Fast Transport Ship USNS Lansing Christened in Mobile, Alabama
The US Navy's final Expeditionary Fast Transport Ship, future USNS Lansing (EPF 16), was christened at Austal USA's facility in Mobile, Alabama. This marks a key milestone in the Spearhead-class EPF program, providing high-speed, shallow-draft transport capabilities.
The christening was performed by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and U.S. Representative Lisa McClain. The EPF Flight II features enhanced medical capabilities, including surgery and intensive care, and supports V-22 flight operations and Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats.
This ship is the first Navy vessel named after Michigan's capital and is part of Austal USA's commitment to maritime logistics. The program has delivered critical support for various fleet missions and emphasizes innovative ship design.
