Finnish Data Centers Projected to Use 5% of National Electricity by 2030
By 2030, Finnish data centers are projected to consume 5% of the nation's electricity, totaling around 1200 megawatts. Current consumption is 285 megawatts, expected to rise to 480 megawatts by year-end. Investments in the sector have reached eight billion euros, with potential future projects worth 24 billion euros. A shortage of skilled labor could hinder growth, and there are ongoing efforts to integrate waste heat from data centers into district heating networks.
