First K9PL Howitzers Delivered to Poland Under Major Contract
The first K9PL howitzers were shipped from South Korea to Poland as part of a contract for 152 units, enhancing the Polish artillery capabilities. This transition reflects Poland's shift towards customized military equipment that integrates domestic command and communication technology.

On July 3, 2026, the first batch of K9PL 155 mm howitzers was shipped to Poland, marking the beginning of a contract signed on December 1, 2023, for 152 units. The total volume across both contracts is 364 K9 howitzers, including 224 K9A1 and 146 K9PL models, expected to be delivered by 2027.
The K9PL retains the K9's firepower while incorporating Polish command systems and improved crew protection. This acquisition enhances Poland's artillery capabilities, providing a fleet that surpasses many European armies' inventories.
The integration of Polish components is crucial for operational efficiency, yet the dual-family structure with the AHS Krab may complicate logistics and training. The K9PL's deployment is strategic, addressing immediate artillery needs while planning for future industrial capability.
