Fluxys Reports 73% Increase in Bio-LNG Demand at Zeebrugge Terminal for 2025
Fluxys has recorded a significant 73% rise in bio-LNG demand at its Zeebrugge Terminal, amounting to over 2.5 TWh in 2025. This surge is primarily attributed to the heavy road transport and shipping sectors aiming to reduce emissions.

In 2025, Fluxys reported a 73% increase in bio-LNG loadings at the Zeebrugge Terminal, reaching over 2.5 TWh. This demand growth is largely driven by the shipping and heavy road transport industries, which are actively working to lower their emissions.
Bio-LNG constituted nearly 40% of small-scale shiploads and approximately 70% of LNG truck loading volumes, primarily serving filling stations for transportation. This increase follows a notable ninefold rise in 2024, demonstrating sustained demand momentum. As a lower-carbon alternative to conventional LNG, bio-LNG can be utilized as a drop-in fuel in existing dual-fuel vessels, potentially enhancing operational flexibility and sustainability in the sector.
