FN Herstal Launches Modernized FN MAG Machine Gun with Long Rail Conversion Kit
FN Herstal presents an upgraded FN MAG machine gun featuring a Long Rail Conversion Kit, enhancing compatibility with modern optics. This modernization allows for field upgrades, reducing the need for complete weapon replacement across 90 nations using the MAG.

FN Herstal has introduced a modernized FN MAG machine gun equipped with a Long Rail Conversion Kit, compatible with existing M240 and L7A2 variants. This upgrade offers a monolithic Picatinny-pattern top rail, providing approximately 14 inches of mounting space for optics and preserving original iron sights for redundancy.
The new feed cover incorporates an AUTO-LOCK retention system, enhancing usability during loading and malfunction clearing. The tactical buttstock features adjustable length and cheek rest, accommodating various shooter configurations.
This conversion kit enables in-service weapons to be updated with basic tools, significantly lowering adoption barriers for the 90 nations operating the MAG. The FN MAG Tactical will debut at Eurosatory in Paris from June 15 to 19, aligning with increased European defense budgets. The modernization positions it as a viable alternative to new weapon systems, ensuring continued operational relevance.
