Focus Graphite Launches NRCan-Funded Thermal Purification Project for Lac Knife Graphite in Canada
Focus Graphite Inc. has commenced a $14.1 million NRCan-funded program to produce high-purity graphite from its Lac Knife project. A six-tonne bulk sample has been sent to SGS Canada for processing, aiming to generate 500 kg of graphite concentrate. This will support thermal purification and reactor engineering initiatives. The program includes pilot-scale processing and is part of a strategy to establish a domestic supply chain for high-purity graphite in Canada.

Focus Graphite Inc. has begun a $14.1 million Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) funded program to produce 500 kg of high-purity graphite from a six-tonne bulk sample at its Lac Knife Graphite Project. The sample has been shipped to SGS Canada for pilot processing, which will include crushing and flotation to achieve approximately 95% graphitic carbon.
The concentrate is expected to support thermal purification and reactor engineering, with completion anticipated within three months. This initiative aims to strengthen Canada's domestic graphite production and supply chain for critical minerals, particularly for battery and defense applications.
