Former Eighth Brigade Commander Ahmad al-Awda Surrenders to Syrian Military Police Amid Clan Banishment
Former Eighth Brigade commander Ahmad al-Awda has surrendered to Syrian Military Police and been expelled from Busra al-Sham by the Miqdad clan. His departure to Damascus occurred under Military Police escort as tensions in eastern Daraa escalated. Al-Awda had previously entered an agreement to prevent bloodshed and opposed both the former regime and extremist factions. Following an armed attack that resulted in a clan member's death, the Miqdad clan declared al-Awda's permanent expulsion to contain the situation.

Ahmad al-Awda, former commander of the Eighth Brigade, surrendered to Syrian Military Police while being permanently expelled from Busra al-Sham by the Miqdad clan. He left Busra al-Sham for Damascus under Military Police escort.
Al-Awda stated he had previously negotiated with the former regime to prevent violence in Daraa. Following a recent armed attack that killed a clan member, the Miqdad clan announced al-Awda's banishment to avert further conflict. This situation reflects ongoing instability in Daraa, despite the dissolution of the Eighth Brigade in April 2025 and the transfer of its assets to the Ministry of Defense.
