Former Gurkha Soldiers to Reopen The Invicta Arms Pub in Maidstone
Dhiraj Rai, a former Gurkha soldier, has purchased The Dragoon pub in Maidstone with plans to reopen it as The Invicta Arms, serving traditional English and Nepalese food. The pub closed in January 2023 and faced redevelopment proposals that were rejected. Renovations, supervised by Rai and his Army colleague Dip Rai, are ongoing, addressing extensive damage from theft and disrepair. Completion is expected by mid-April.

Dhiraj Rai has acquired the closed Dragoon pub in Maidstone, intending to reopen it as The Invicta Arms, featuring traditional English and Nepalese cuisine. The pub, which shut down in January 2023, was previously sold to CKE Homes for conversion into flats; however, all redevelopment applications were denied.
Renovation efforts are being led by Rai and his former Army colleague Dip Rai, addressing significant damage, including theft of copper piping. The reopening is projected for mid-April.
