Fort Bliss Opens First 3D-Printed Military Barracks in Historic Deployment
The U.S. Army has inaugurated the first of ten 3D-printed barracks at Fort Bliss, part of a significant deployment of robotic construction technology. This initiative aims to enhance soldier well-being and operational readiness while reducing construction time and costs.

On July 28, 2026, the U.S. Army unveiled two of ten 3D-printed barracks at Fort Bliss, marking the military's largest automated construction project. Completed in just 58 days, the complex spans 78,000 square feet and is designed to house up to 560 service members, significantly improving housing logistics and quality of life.
The project, led by Austin's ICON Prime and the Army Corps of Engineers, achieved a 9.3% cost reduction compared to traditional construction methods while maintaining high energy efficiency. Scheduled for full completion by September 2026, these barracks reflect a shift towards innovative building processes within military infrastructure.
