Fort Detrick Emergency Operations Center Upgraded to Enhance Crisis Response
Fort Detrick's Emergency Operations Center has been upgraded to enhance its crisis response capabilities, increasing workstations from 24 to 32 and reorganizing the layout for improved collaboration. The two-year project introduced mobile work pods, advanced technological features like large monitors and a Microsoft Teams-compatible camera system, and was completed using in-house resources within budget constraints. Future enhancements are planned under the Army's Voice Modernization initiative.

Fort Detrick's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has undergone a significant reconfiguration and technological upgrade to improve collaboration and response capacity for crises. The two-year project expanded the number of workstations from 24 to 32 and reorganized the layout into work groups with new furniture designed for flexibility.
This includes mobile 'pods' equipped with cable management and electronic charging stations. Infrastructure changes included relocating data and phone ports to support the new configuration. Technologically, the EOC now features large monitors, desk-side screens, and a Microsoft Teams-compatible camera system to facilitate communication with local authorities.
The upgrades were achieved using in-house resources within existing budget constraints. The EOC is also preparing for future enhancements under the Army's Voice Modernization plan.
