The 42 Bistro at Fort Hood, Texas, is set to open on February 18, 2026. This privatized dining facility is designed to enhance food options for soldiers, featuring extended hours and a variety of food choices.

The Army will compensate the contractor based on meals consumed by soldiers with meal entitlements. Key waivers were granted to facilitate operations, including bypassing traditional procurement processes and enabling on-site dietitians.

The facility has already begun serving select soldiers and will expand its offerings. Similar facilities will also be established at four other Army posts, with Fort Carson scheduled to open in March.
