Fort Hunter Liggett to Modernize 50-Year-Old Water System with $165 Million Project
Fort Hunter Liggett will replace its outdated water distribution system with a new system starting in fall 2023. The $165 million project consists of three phases, including installing piping, valves, a 2-million-gallon storage capacity, and a new well.
The project, awarded to Jacobs by the Corps of Engineers, aims to comply with the Army's Net Zero - Water initiative and address the aging infrastructure, which causes frequent waterline breaks. The urgency for upgrades was highlighted by a 2022 waterline break that disrupted services for weeks. The new system will meet water quality and conservation requirements and enhance energy resiliency by integrating with the electric micro-grid.
