FortisBC Tilbury LNG Expansion Project Under Public Consultation
FortisBC's Tilbury LNG expansion is in the public consultation phase until July 27, 2026, with a decision expected by year-end. The project includes a new storage tank and additional liquefaction capacity, contributing to BC's major project goals and economic growth.

FortisBC's Tilbury Phase 2 LNG Expansion Project is currently undergoing public consultation until July 27, 2026, to inform the BC Environmental Assessment Office's final Assessment Report. The project will add a storage tank of 142,400 cubic meters and increase liquefaction capacity by 2.5 million tonnes annually.
It has been designated as a priority by the BC government, which is advancing $88 billion in major projects over the next three years to enhance provincial revenue. A decision on the expansion is anticipated before the end of 2026. Environmental group Stand.earth raises concerns about increased tanker traffic, pollution, and potential impacts on local wildlife.
