Found Industries Launches Found Metals to Enhance U.S. Critical Metal Supply Chains
Found Industries initiates Found Metals to extract gallium, addressing supply chain vulnerabilities in critical metals. This expansion, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, aims to establish a domestic supply chain in response to China's dominance in gallium production.

Found Industries, originally formed as Found Energy, is launching a new division named Found Metals to extract gallium from mineral refineries by 2027. This initiative follows the recognition of supply chain vulnerabilities, particularly with gallium, a critical material used in defense, semiconductor, and energy sectors, where 99% of production is currently controlled by China.
The company employs an electrochemical extraction method developed to reduce dependence on foreign sources. Additionally, Found Industries continues its aluminum fuel operations, running a 100-kilowatt-class demonstration plant and preparing for larger industrial deployments. The focus on critical metals aligns with national security needs, enhancing supply chain resilience for both metals and aluminum fuel products.
