Foundation Laid for ₹4,000 Cr Steel Project in Purulia by Amit Metaliks
Amit Metaliks is investing ₹4,000 crore in a greenfield steel manufacturing project in Purulia, aiming for 1.2 MTPA capacity by 2029. The facility will create over 5,000 jobs and incorporate advanced sustainable practices, enhancing the local industrial landscape.

Amit Metaliks Ltd has initiated a ₹4,000 crore integrated steel manufacturing project in Raghunathpur, Purulia, expected to begin operations by 2029 with a capacity of 1.2 MTPA. The facility will include a pellet plant, direct reduced iron (DRI) unit, rolling mill, forging, brick units, and a 145-MW captive power plant.
This project will create over 5,000 jobs and strengthen local industrial activity. Sustainability measures such as waste heat recovery, water recycling, and zero liquid discharge will be implemented to enhance resource efficiency. The development aligns with the goals of expanding manufacturing capabilities and supporting ancillary businesses in the region.
