Foxconn Exits Joint Venture with Vedanta for Semiconductor Manufacturing
Foxconn has withdrawn from a $19.5 billion semiconductor joint venture with Vedanta, which was aimed at establishing production in Gujarat. The Indian government asserts this decision will not hinder India's semiconductor ambitions as Vedanta plans to pursue the project independently.

Foxconn's exit from the joint venture with Vedanta marks a significant shift in India's semiconductor landscape, involving a $19.5 billion investment initially proposed in 2022. Despite this setback, the Indian government maintains that the withdrawal will not affect the country's semiconductor objectives.
Vedanta plans to continue with its semiconductor fab project, having secured a technology licensing agreement for 40nm production from a global semiconductor manufacturer. This development indicates that both companies will now operate independently in their strategies, which may influence future partnerships and technology sourcing in India's emerging semiconductor market.
