Lam Research to Invest $1.7 Billion in Tualatin through 2041
Lam Research plans to invest up to $1.7 billion in Tualatin, Oregon, primarily for a new R&D facility, creating over 2,000 jobs. The investment follows an agreement under Oregon's Strategic Investment Program, which provides property tax exemptions to encourage capital-intensive projects.

Lam Research's proposed investment of $1.7 billion in Tualatin will focus on a new research and development facility. This project is expected to generate over 2,000 construction jobs and approximately 450 ongoing R&D positions.
Under the Oregon Strategic Investment Program, Lam Research would benefit from property tax abatements, paying an estimated $84 million in taxes over 15 years, while redirecting funds towards community investment. The Washington County Board of Commissioners will hold a public meeting on the agreement on August 4, with the City Council set to vote on August 10.
Approval from the Business Oregon Commission is also required. This deal could significantly enhance the local workforce and solidify Tualatin's role in the semiconductor industry.
