Foxconn Opens Electric Vehicle R&D Centre in Zhengzhou, China
Foxconn has inaugurated a research and development centre for electric vehicles in Zhengzhou, China, aimed at reducing the production cycle for new models to 24 months. The facility will focus on next-generation electric vehicles, electric architectures, and intelligent driving technologies. Foxconn plans to advance its role as a contract manufacturer for electric vehicles, similar to its model in the smartphone sector. The company is also building a headquarters for its New Business division in Zhengzhou, focusing on electric vehicles, digital health, and robotics.

Foxconn has opened a research and development centre for electric vehicles in Zhengzhou, China, with operations beginning on Wednesday. The centre aims to cut the production cycle for new vehicle models to 24 months and will focus on next-generation electric vehicles and intelligent driving technologies, as confirmed by the Henan provincial government.
This facility is likely the one announced in July 2024 as a pilot manufacturing centre for electric vehicles. Additionally, Foxconn is constructing a headquarters in Zhengzhou for its New Business division, which targets electric vehicles, digital health, and robotics. The company has developed multiple battery-electric vehicle prototypes and has established joint ventures with Daimler Truck's Fuso and ZF to enhance its automotive manufacturing capabilities.
