Foxconn Opens Electric Vehicle R&D Centre in Zhengzhou, China
Foxconn has opened a research and development centre for electric vehicles in Zhengzhou, China, with operations beginning on Wednesday. The centre aims to cut the production cycle for new vehicle models to 24 months and will focus on next-generation electric vehicles and intelligent driving technologies, as confirmed by the Henan provincial government.
This facility is likely the one announced in July 2024 as a pilot manufacturing centre for electric vehicles. Additionally, Foxconn is constructing a headquarters in Zhengzhou for its New Business division, which targets electric vehicles, digital health, and robotics. The company has developed multiple battery-electric vehicle prototypes and has established joint ventures with Daimler Truck's Fuso and ZF to enhance its automotive manufacturing capabilities.
