France to Implement Gas Price Increase of 3.41% on April 1, 2026

NATURAL GAS

On April 1, 2026, France will see a revision of natural gas tariffs, as announced by the Commission de régulation de l'énergie (CRE). The average increase for transport tariffs will be 3.41%, based on a technical review under the ATRT8 framework.

This is lower than earlier forecasts of a 1.3% to 2.5% increase. Changes will also affect storage, with Storengy (Engie subsidiary) seeing a 4.3% revenue increase, while Teréga and Géométhane will experience decreases of 0.3% and 1.5%, respectively.

These adjustments are influenced by persistent inflation, operational cost pressures, and new European regulations, particularly the Methane Regulation. Additionally, Storengy and NaTran are planning to establish a joint subsidiary to optimize compression equipment costs. Overall, these changes are expected to lead to a 0.3% rise in household gas bills, compounding existing taxes and infrastructure costs.
