France's Industrial Robot Adoption Lagging Behind Competitors
In 2023, France had 186 robots per 10,000 jobs, significantly lower than Germany and South Korea. This shortfall raises concerns about competitiveness and labor market impacts, especially as companies like Airbus cautiously explore automation technologies.

France's robot density stands at 186 units per 10,000 jobs, which is twice less than Germany and five times lower than South Korea. Airbus has placed an order for a humanoid robot, the Walker S2, from UbTech Robotics, aimed at enhancing assembly line efficiency.
However, the company is currently only testing one unit in R&D in China, indicating no plans for mass deployment. Concerns persist over job displacement due to automation, although experts argue that robotic integration may transform rather than eliminate jobs, particularly in challenging roles. This cautious approach reflects broader hesitance within the French industrial sector regarding automation adoption.
