French Startup Launches First On-Farm Biogas Liquefaction Facility
Sublime Energie's new biogas liquefaction technology enables farms without gas infrastructure to produce bioLNG. This innovation could significantly alter agricultural energy markets by creating new income streams for farmers and facilitating the use of fragmented agricultural resources.

Sublime Energie has inaugurated the world's first facility for liquefying biogas on farms in Brittany, France, marking a significant advancement in agricultural energy production. The demonstration plant, named 'Charlie,' allows farmers to produce liquefied biogas (bioLNG) and liquefied biogenic CO2 directly on-site, eliminating reliance on gas infrastructure.
It is expected to yield approximately 180 tons of bioLNG and 330 tons of liquefied CO2 annually. The project employs a 'hub-and-spoke' model, enabling smaller and geographically isolated farms to access green fuel markets.
Following the completion of the technology testing phase, Sublime Energie plans to expand through project 'Delta,' connecting around ten farms to a central treatment facility expected to be operational by 2028. This model offers farmers a stable income without significant investment in upgrading facilities.
