FuelCell Energy Advances Carbon Capture Technology with Revenue Potential
FuelCell Energy has introduced a carbon capture platform that integrates with existing fossil fuel plants to generate electricity. This innovation could reshape the company’s growth trajectory and investment outlook amid ongoing financial challenges.

FuelCell Energy's carbonate fuel cell-based carbon capture technology is designed to work with coal and natural gas plants, enabling emission reductions while generating additional electricity. The recent US$225 million equity raise in July 2026 provides financial flexibility for pursuing carbon capture projects and data center initiatives, albeit increasing shareholder dilution concerns.
The company projects revenues of $569.9 million and earnings of $63.7 million by 2029, although pessimistic forecasts estimate revenues around $324 million, highlighting the risks of unprofitability. This technology could bolster its investment narrative, but challenges remain in converting project pipelines into revenue and addressing ongoing net losses.
