Academy School District 20 has received a $42.7 million grant from the Department of Defense's Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation to construct a new pre-K through 8th-grade school on the United States Air Force Academy. The total project cost is $54.2 million, aimed at replacing outdated facilities and expanding the current educational model.
RTA Architects will design the school, which is expected to feature modern learning spaces, and construction is anticipated to last 18 months. If on schedule, the school could open in January 2028, after which the original Douglass Valley Elementary will be demolished. This initiative reflects a strategic investment in education for military families.
