Gabon Aims for 1,100 MW Power Capacity by 2030 Under National Energy Pact
Gabon targets a total electricity generation capacity of 1,100 MW by 2030, requiring approximately $4.2 billion in investments. The National Energy Pact emphasizes a shift to gas-hydropower systems and aims for over 95% electricity access for the population.

Gabon plans to boost its electricity generation capacity to 1,100 MW by 2030, necessitating an investment of around $4.2 billion from 2026 to 2030. The strategy focuses on a mix of gas and hydropower resources, aiming to connect 87,500 households to raise electricity access above 95%.
The National Energy Pact, published in June 2026, prioritizes local energy resources and aims to decrease dependence on diesel. Current installed capacity is 886 MW, with hydropower at 41.6% and gas at 44.9%. Successful execution of infrastructure projects is critical to overcoming existing technical and financial challenges in the electricity sector.
