Gabon Extractive Industries Contract by 1.2% in Q3 2025 Due to Oil and Gas Production Declines
NATURAL GAS
Gabon’s extractive industries experienced a 1.2% contraction in Q3 2025, attributed to a 4.3% decrease in oil production and a 1.7% reduction in marketed natural gas. Technical problems and aging oil fields prompted operators to lower production forecasts.
For the first nine months of 2025, oil output decreased by 2.1%, while natural gas production saw a 5.4% annual decline due to equipment unavailability. Manganese was the only sector with growth, rising by 8.6% in Q3. However, the overall extractive activities index fell by 4.3% year-on-year, reflecting ongoing challenges in this key economic sector.
