Sosthène Nguema Nguema, Gabon's Minister of Oil and Gas, will speak at the Libya Energy & Economic Summit 2026 in Tripoli from January 24-26. His participation reflects Gabon's efforts to attract international investment and reform its oil and gas sector.

Since taking office in May 2025, Nguema has initiated the replacement of the 2019 Hydrocarbons Code with new oil and gas codes to improve transparency and fiscal terms for investors. Gabon produces approximately 200,000-228,000 barrels per day and has proven oil reserves of 2 billion barrels and natural gas reserves of 26 billion cubic meters.

Major international players, including bp and ExxonMobil, have signed MoUs for offshore exploration. Key projects include the Cap Lopez LNG Terminal and the Port-Gentil LNG facility. Gabon aims for 85% rural electrification by the end of 2025, strengthening its energy strategy.
