GAIL Signs MoU with Chhattisgarh for 12.7 LMT Gas-Based Urea Plant Project
GAIL (India) Ltd has signed a non-binding MoU with the Chhattisgarh government to explore the establishment of a 12.7 LMT gas-based urea plant. The facility will leverage GAIL's Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda (MNJPL) natural gas pipeline, facilitating access to feedstock and optimizing logistics.
The agreement includes detailed techno-economic studies to assess feasibility. The plant aims to enhance domestic urea production and reduce import reliance. The project is expected to require an initial investment of approximately ₹10,500 crores and create about 3,500 direct jobs. The Chhattisgarh Skill Tech initiative further supports industrial development and skill integration in the state, with over ₹13,690 crores in investment proposals expected to generate more than 12,000 employment opportunities across various sectors.
