Galați Mayor Discusses LNG Terminal Construction with Pro Danube International Delegation
Galați Mayor Ionuț Pucheanu and city officials met with Pro Danube International from Austria to explore building an LNG terminal in the Industrial Park. The project is part of the LNG Masterplan for the Rhine-Main-Danube, with potential EU funding discussions scheduled for September-October. The terminal aims to utilize liquefied natural gas, which is cheaper and more environmentally friendly, for maritime and urban transport. The investment could reach €20 million and may be completed by 2020 if plans proceed.

Galați Mayor Ionuț Pucheanu met with Pro Danube International from Austria to discuss the potential construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Industrial Park. This initiative is part of the LNG Masterplan for the Rhine-Main-Danube, involving local partners APDM Galați and Parc Industrial SRL Galați.
Discussions will focus on accessing EU non-repayable funds in September-October. The LNG terminal, projected to cost around €20 million, could significantly enhance the local economy and support various transport sectors. Previous meetings have addressed this project, which received EU funding approval in 2013.
