Galvion Inc. Expands Helmet Production for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Galvion Inc. is set to supply $15.5 million worth of helmets to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), reflecting its significant role in the defense sector. The company's Newport, Vermont facility has expanded operations, employing 238 workers and contributing to the local economy amid ongoing federal funding discussions.

Galvion Inc., a Canadian defense manufacturer, will supply $15.5 million in helmets to ICE starting September 2025. This contract follows the allocation of over $170 billion to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) over four years, enhancing ICE's operations.
The Newport facility, which grew from 45 to 238 employees since 2012, has expanded from 16,000 to 50,000 square feet. Local officials highlight Galvion's economic impact, with its jobs accounting for nearly 2% of Orleans County's workforce.
Despite concerns regarding ICE's operations, local leadership supports Galvion's presence and its investment in the community. The ongoing relationship between Galvion and ICE may pose reputational risks as debates about DHS funding continue.
