Ganga Expressway: India's First Night-Landing Expressway for Military Aircraft
The Ganga Expressway, stretching nearly 600 kilometers between Meerut and Prayagraj, is India's first expressway designed for night landings of military aircraft. Developed with strategic defense capabilities, it has successfully conducted trials with various Air Force jets, including Rafale and Mirage 2000. This infrastructure enhancement in Uttar Pradesh aims to bolster the region's defense capabilities, complementing existing expressways that only permit daytime landings.

The Ganga Expressway, running through Meerut and Prayagraj, is India's first expressway that allows military fighter aircraft to land at night. This expressway, part of India's expanding network of high-speed roads, has been developed with strategic defense capabilities, including a night-landing airstrip in Shahjahanpur.
It has successfully conducted night-landing trials with various Air Force jets, including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Jaguar aircraft. The expressway spans nearly 600 kilometers and is set to open for public use soon, enhancing the defense infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh, which also hosts other expressways such as the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal Expressways that only support daytime landings.
