Gaza Civil Defense Halts Body Recovery Operations Due to Fuel Shortage
The Gaza Civil Defense has halted body recovery operations due to a critical fuel shortage, which has been exacerbated by a blockade preventing fuel entry into the region. Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal emphasized the need for international assistance to support rescue teams and maintain essential services, as the suspension also impacts the removal of hazards from damaged buildings and response to weather-related emergencies.

The Gaza Civil Defense has suspended body recovery operations from rubble after a fuel shortage halted vehicle operations. Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal reported to Qatar News Agency that the lack of minimum fuel supplies needed for humanitarian interventions is due to the blockade preventing fuel entry into Gaza.
This suspension affects not only body retrieval missions but also the removal of hazards from partially destroyed buildings following Israeli shelling. Basal urged international organizations to provide fuel for rescue teams and humanitarian workers to maintain essential services. Additionally, he noted the civil defense's diminished capacity to respond to recent weather-related emergencies, as Gaza continues to face a severe fuel and energy crisis exacerbated by the blockade.
