GE Secures Power Generation Equipment Contract for 220 MW Plant in Bangladesh
GE has been selected by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group to supply equipment for a 220 MW combined cycle power plant in Bhola, Bangladesh. This plant, expected to begin commercial operations by December 2019, will utilize dual-fuel technology and is projected to provide electricity to 200,000 homes. The SP Group has signed a 22-year Power Purchase Agreement with BPDB. This marks GE's second project in Bhola, reinforcing its presence in South Asia's energy sector.

GE will supply power generation equipment for a 220 MW combined cycle power plant in Bhola, Bangladesh, under a contract with the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. This is GE's second facility of this capacity in Bhola, with the first commissioned in 2015.
The project will employ dual-fuel technology, using natural gas primarily and diesel as backup, and aims to achieve commercial operations by December 2019, supplying power to 200,000 homes. The SP Group has established a 22-year Power Purchase Agreement with BPDB for the project. GE Power will deliver a complete engineered equipment package, including gas turbines and associated systems.
