Geisinger Expands Security Screenings Across Hospitals
Geisinger is implementing entrance security screenings at all hospitals over the next year to enhance safety protocols. The initiative follows successful screenings in emergency rooms since 2021, aiming to address rising concerns about violence in healthcare settings.

Over the next year, Geisinger will introduce entrance security screenings across all its hospitals. This initiative follows the successful use of metal detectors in emergency room entrances since 2021, which has already prevented thousands of weapons from entering facilities.
Visitors, patients, and staff will be screened at public entrances, similar to airport security protocols. Weapons, including firearms and knives, are prohibited within Geisinger facilities. Future safety measures will include a private police team and the integration of AI for security monitoring. The timeline for further facility implementations will be provided later.
