The president of General Dynamics Electric Boat stated that a multi-year contract for 15 nuclear-powered submarines is still months from finalization. The U.S. Navy is in negotiations with General Dynamics and Huntington Ingalls Industries for a deal that includes 10 Block VI Virginia-class attack submarines and five Columbia-class nuclear ballistic missile submarines.

The Block VI submarines will incorporate the Virginia Payload Module. Updates were also provided on efforts to reduce shipyard attrition rates and the role of outsourcing in the production process.
