Germany has introduced the IRIS-T SLM/X air defense missile system, which features a 100 km range and the ability to mix missile types in one launcher. The system combines the existing IRIS-T SLM, operational since 2022, and the forthcoming SLX variant, enhancing flexibility against aerial threats.

The SLM has a 60 km range and the SLX extends this to 100 km. The architecture includes a Tactical Operations Center and radar units, allowing for rapid deployment and engagement of multiple targets. The SLX variant aims for trials by 2029, supporting layered defense strategies and integration with existing systems.
