Germany Unveils New Military Strategy to Address Russian Threat
Germany's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has announced a military strategy aimed at transforming the Bundeswehr into Europe's strongest conventional army. This strategic pivot is a response to the increasing military threat from Russia, emphasizing significant troop increases and enhanced commitments to NATO.

Germany's military strategy aims to elevate the Bundeswehr to become the most formidable conventional army in Europe by 2039. The plan includes increasing troop numbers from approximately 185,000 to 260,000 and more than doubling active reservists to 200,000.
The Defence Ministry identifies Russia as the primary threat, warning of potential military confrontations. The strategy also emphasizes long-range weapons, air defense systems, and advanced technologies like AI and robotics.
NATO is set to increase its forces to 460,000 soldiers to counter Russian aggression. This overhaul represents a fundamental shift in Germany's defense policy, with implications for NATO's burden-sharing dynamics.
