Ghana's Vice President Calls for Private Sector Support for Free Sanitary Pad Initiative
Ghana's Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the private sector to support the government's Free Sanitary Pad Initiative, which aims to provide free sanitary pads to over two million schoolgirls to combat period poverty and reduce absenteeism. The initiative, allocated GH¢292.4 million in the 2026 Budget, was launched on April 24, 2025, with Opoku-Agyemang emphasizing the crucial role of private partnerships in enhancing productivity and job creation.

Ghana's Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, urged the private sector to support the government's Free Sanitary Pad Initiative during a meeting with the Sunda Group on January 13, 2025. The initiative received an allocation of GH¢292.4 million in the 2026 Budget.
It aims to provide free sanitary pads to over two million schoolgirls to combat period poverty and reduce absenteeism. The program was launched on April 24, 2025, at the Salvation Army Cluster of Schools in Accra. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the importance of private sector partnerships in driving productivity and job creation while commending the Sunda Group for their contributions.
